Good News, Simple Rhythms, Ordinary Hospitality
The liturgies we use for many of our Emmaus Missions can be found in our Emmaus Manual is a neurodivergent prayerbook, that offers Good News for the scattered mind:
these Emmaus Manual is a short book that offers two things: a little catechism and a liturgy of the hours.
The little catechism explains the Good News for those who struggle.
the liturgy of the hours offers folks a simple life with this Good News: these liturgies organize scripture and prayer for morning, afternoon, and evening. They offer a path of scripture and prayer throughout the day so that folks can receive Good News, stay with Good News, and work with Good News.
The Emmaus Manual is, itself, an adaptation, love letter, and reimplementation of the 1979 Book of Common Prayer, a book that continues to form me and for which I am forever grateful.
The Emmaus Manual is offered as a pdf here below
The pdf are free to use. And all (or portions) can be easily made to into little books in this way:
1. print out the pdf, making it one-sided, with four sheets per page (for example, 160 page pdf should print out as 40 pages).
2. Fold each page lengthwise so the blank side does not show, then widthwise, to make a little square. Tear along the widthwise crease. This should give you little folded pages you can stack.
3. Each page (or stack of pages) can then be hole punched with the top two holes of a three-hole punch. Make sure to punch holes on the left side (the numbers should show on the right side)
4. With string, thread, or even a rubber band (you will need to break it so it becomes a piece of string) put one end through one hole then the other, then repeat on the other side until it is bound nice and tight.
5. use a piece of duct tape along the edge to make it feel like it has binding.
