Good News, Simple Rhythms, Ordinary Hospitality
An Emmaus Missions is a sacred third space, a liturgy and a place to be. This is the slow and steady rhythm of scripture, prayer, and tables that we offer folks. Many of our daily, weekly, quarterly, rhythms happen in the physical location of our Evensong Chapel, what we also call "a good haunted house."
Daily Coffee and Lauds ( a liturgy from the Emmaus Manual on zoom or in person)
Weekly Soup and Vespers (a liturgy from the Emmaus Manual along with meal and games at someone's home)
Monthly Evensong and Open Mic (a sung communion service from one of the expansions of the Emmaus Manual, followed by hot dogs and time of sharing)
Quarterly Monastic Craft Table (we go through the whole Emmaus Manual, in between we do crafts and art at a giant table and eat snacks)
Yearly Cookie and Carols (at Christmas time), Holy Saturday Hike, and Emmaus Bonfire
If interested in starting your own Emmaus Mission, please feel free to email me at jbryant@churcharmyusa.org. I can provide the materials and offer some guidance.
