We are an order of chaplain evangelists. We go and see people in the land of sin and death, and create places for them to be.  Places where they feel seen, safe, and fed.

We call these places Emmaus Missions. â€‹ An Emmaus Mission  is a sign of Home in the land of Sin and Death, a place where folks can hear Good News and share in some sign this News is true.

The Good News is that Christ has Died, Christ is Risen, and Christ will Come Again.  In short, Christ Died and Rose for us, and we Die and Rise with Him when we hear this Good News.

Regard, company, and  rest (also known as Ordinary Hospitality)  is our sign this News is true. It is our most basic, tender, and visible sign of the  reality of Christ, the forgiveness of sins, and the homecoming offered only in Him.

Emmaus Missions are places where we hear Good News and offer Ordinary Hospitality through a simple rhythm of scripture, prayer, and tables.

A simple rhythm of scripture, prayer, and tables is our life with this Good News. That is how we hear Good News and offer this Ordinary Hospitality.

And Emmaus Missions are established just like that, through a simple rhythms of scripture, prayer, and tables.

Emmaus Missions--these signs of Home where folks can hear Good news and share in some sign this News is true--are also called "sacred third spaces," and a "liturgy a place to be." They are special blend of chapel and bowling alley.  And they stand between the Sunday Fellowship and the personal visits we do as chaplains.

When and if they're ready, these Emmaus Missions become a natural bridge back to the Preached Word and the Lord's Supper in the Fellowship of believers.

These are the Emmaus Missions we have--

Daily Coffee and Lauds

Weekly Soup and Vespers,

Monthly Evensong and Open Mic

Quarterly Monastic Craft Table

Yearly Easter Evening Bonfire

If we want people to return to church on Sunday, we're going to have to go visit them, if we want folks to visit, we need to make places for them to be.

Emmaus Missions are primarily kergymatic: they  are intended to be a proclamation of the Good News we have in Christ--our most tender, basic and visible sign of the reality of Christ, the forgiveness of sin, and th homecoming we have in him. They do not, themselves, save. But they are a sign this saving News is true. Because Ordinary Hospitality is, primarily, about the Person it announces.  Because posture, pace, and proximity is proclamation.
